Rockies release OF Hawpe

08/19/2010 - Los Angeles, CA (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The Colorado Rockies released outfielder Brad Hawpe on Thursday.

The 31-year-old was to become a free agent at the end of the season, during which he has batted .255 with seven home runs and 37 RBI in 88 games for the Rockies.

He had spent all seven of his professional seasons with the Rockies, and over 816 games he was a .280 hitter with the club. He owns a lifetime .374 on-base percentage, 118 home runs and 464 RBI.

His best season came in 2007, when the Rockies made a trip to the World Series. During that season he set career highs with 29 homers and 116 RBI and batted .291 in 152 games.

To fill the roster spot, the team recalled pitcher Matt Reynolds from Triple-A Colorado Springs.
